Where do we get Yakshagana cassettes/CDs in Bangalore?

When I came to Bangalore in the early 90s, it used to be Shilge Electronics at Alankar Plaza on Kempe Gowda Road. I had bought many cassettes from Shilge but one fine day when I went there in the late 90s, the shop was no longer there. Someone then suggested a place at Hanumanthanagar which I could never find.

Much later on a visit to the posh Music World on Brigade Road I was delighted to find a few Yakshagana cassettes there. However, gradually they disappeared from the stacks. Last year when I visited Planet M, I was delighted again to see some Yakshagana cassettes there too. On a short visit to Bangalore this month I saw the Brigade Road Music World closed down while the neigbhouring Planet M no longer held any Yakshagana cassettes/CDs.

Meanwhile, last year I was attracted to a shop on Hanumantha Nagar 50 ft Road (No 433/32) -Cassette Corner whose board suggested that it sold Yakshagana cassettes . Since then I have regularly bought Yakshagana CDs and cassettes from there whenever in Bangalore.

At present Cassette Corner seems to be the only place where Yakshanaga audio-visuals are available in the capital. It has a good collection. At the counter you will find a friendly youngster, Bhaskar, who is well informed about Yakshagana and is ready to go out of his way to get the particular title that you are looking for. The shop started some five years ago. Bhaskar says he makes good business in Yakshagana VCDs despite the location of the shop literally in a corner.
