Voice of Agari

Agari Sirinvasa Bhagavatha is one of the well-known Bhagavavathas of yesteryears. A writer of many prasangas, his style of singing was unique. His son Agari Raghurama Bhagavatha also followed the father's foot steps. Raghuram Bhagavatha's way of singing was slightly different, yet it had some elements of similarity with the father's style. Audio cassettes/CDs featuring the Agaris are rare. Here are a few songs of the junior Agari Bhagavatha. He sang these songs for Amrita Someshwara's famous prasanga Amarashilpi Veera Kalkuda which the erstwhile Surathkal mela used to play. The songs were recorded when the prasanga was staged in Mumbai way back in 1970s. Here you go:
1) Rajisuva vara venu puradolu
2) Odahuttidannaaana Kanneera kathe keli and other songs
3) Yaarele tarunee neenu and Kallettimaarnaadinaaa

The senior Agari's birth centenary was celebrated in December 2006...
See Senior Agari on video here
(In the original post I had identified these songs as those of Agari Srinivasa Bhagavatha. I am grateful to Mr Subramanya Bhat for the correction. Picture is of senior Agari)

hi narayan

i think the above mentioned songs are not agari Srinivasa Bhagavata's. istead it is his son agari raghurama bhagavatha's. i have the same prasangas songs with me. in that prasanga raguram bhagavata is very popular.
