Pata Pata Galipata Akatakataa!

The increasing influence of cinema on Yakshagana makes many Yakshagana lovers squirm. Some prefer to look the other way considering the trend as exceptions on the fringes. Of course, there are a good number of those for whom every distortion is an innovation worth adoration. From being a mere influence, of late it has become outright imitation of cinema scenes on Yakshagana stage, confusing the uninitiated on what to accept as Yakshagana and what not to. Here is a Youtube clip which shows 'yakshagana dance' to the kannada song 'pata pata galipata.' Draw your own conclusions......

It's different indeed.

Good insight into the changing trends and nice tone used to write about something like this. :)

Yakshagana doesn't require these kind of imitations.
It is different from cinema and it should remain as that also.
